Plea to a Long-Dead Rabbi for Mercy and Salvation

by Rotten Light

1.
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword" "I have come to sow discord between a man and his father, between a daughter and her mother.." Trouble in my way I have to cry sometimes Trouble in my way I have to cry sometimes Stay awake at night But that's alright I know that Jesus will fix it afterwhile. Stepped into the furnace A long time ago Shadrach, Meshach And Abednego They weren't worried This I know I know that Jesus will fix it afterwhile. Satan messin' with me Giving me a hard way to go Satan messin' with me That's his job Stay awake at night But that's alright I know that Jesus will fix it afterwhile. When you are hurting On your face it shows You just keep tryin' To bear the pain alone You got to give it to Jesus He will handle the load I know that Jesus will fix it afterwhile. But Jesus was killed hundreds and hundreds of years ago So he was alone all this time No one could fix his predicaments No one could hear his song And he realised hell was real and it was called life

Forsaken and humiliated Bone and glass rip my skin Thirty nine punishments My soul won't leave my being Bound and beaten Disfigured and crowned with thorns My spine and blood exposed What did I do to anger the gods? I cry and ask why I moan and writhe in blight I can not stand the thought That I will be nailed Tree or Cross? It matters not From Tree to Tomb, there is no God 2000 years without cures 2000 years without miracles 2000 years without a Messiah 2000 years of sins Here lies a dead rabbi Whom who followed him are cursed And all of them will burn in hell Except its head, that will ascend to heavens

about

Yes, Christmas single. Something that at this point is stereotypical in metal. But this song is not about crhistmas, but christianty itself. Rotten Light didn't explored the theme of religion until now.

This song tries to explore the futility of praying to the person who died centuries ago and the pain that this person had to endure to become a symbol that people call for mercy.

This is why the song has two parts. The first plea calling for salvation and the second part, full of black metal hatred for what Jesus (in case he existed) had to endure and the irony of praying to someone who lost the faith in his last moments. The lyrics are clear in this themes.
